Non-mandatory Service Node upgrade now available

17 December 2024Kee Jefferys

New versions of Oxen Core (10.6.2) and Lokinet (0.9.12) are now available. These updates are not mandatory but include important bug fixes to address issues that Service Nodes have recently encountered.

What’s New?

  • Oxen Core: This release addresses a bug that could cause the blockchain to become stuck when competing ONS registrations exist in the Oxen transaction pool. Note: An earlier version of this non-mandatory upgrade, 10.6.1, caused issues for some nodes, now resolved in 10.6.2

  • Lokinet: This release resolves an issue where Lokinet could become unreachable before Service Node registration occurred, causing some nodes to be decommissioned shortly after registering.

Since these updates are optional, there’s no required upgrade timeframe, and exchanges and wallets do not need to be updated.

Looking Ahead

As the new year approaches, the network is moving closer to the Session Token TGE and migration. Keep an eye out for further announcements regarding the series of hardforks planned to prepare the network for this transition.

How to Upgrade

Upgrading your node is simple. Run the following commands in your CLI:

First, to sync your repositories:

  •  sudo apt update

Then, to install updates:

  • sudo apt upgrade

Note: This will install updates for Oxen, Session, Lokinet, and any other available system packages (a recommended practice).

To update only Oxen Core and Lokinet without upgrading other system packages, use:

sudo apt install oxend lokinet-router
